Louis Marquis, Ad. E. (Advocatus Emeritus, Quebec Bar), has over twenty-five years of experience in alternative dispute resolution. He is a mediator, arbitrator, negotiation consultant, facilitator, trainer, and ADR systems design specialist. He has mediated two-party and multi-party disputes in numerous contexts, including commercial, employment, corporate governance, workplace, banking, and breach of contract. He has also arbitrated commercial cases. His work done as a practitioner and scholar in the field of alternative dispute resolution is widely recognized as groundbreaking. After earning his LL.B at the Université de Sherbrooke, Louis Marquis earned his LL.M. at the University of Cambridge Faculty of Law, and his Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia. Until 2017, he fulfilled various responsibilities in the positions of Dean of Law, Vice-President, and Secretary General, where he demonstrated vision and dynamism, a capacity to carry an exceptional workload, and versatility. He has taught ADR courses throughout North America, Europe, and Africa with Educadroits International. His expertise in ADR has been called upon by both Canadian and foreign governments, where he carried out development projects for legislative and judicial reform. He is the founder of the first university program in the francophone world in ADR, presently offered at the Faculty of Law, Université de Sherbrooke. His contributions include: Droit de la prévention et du règlement des différends. Principes et fondements (Éditions RDUS ; Sherbrooke, 2015 ; New Developments in Civil and Commercial Mediation – Global Comparative Perspectives (Dordrecht: Springer, Ius Comparatum – Global Studies in Comparative Law Series, 2015), co-editor with Carlos Esplugues.
